In light of the revelations emerging from the files of the former Soviet Union detailing these illegal pay-offs, Liberty Lobby, the publisher of The Spotlight, filed a formal complaint with the FEC on March 11 demanding the agency investigate and prosecute not only the CPUSA, but also Boss Hall and his Soviet benefactor, former dictator Mikhail Gorbachev, for their blatant violation of American federal election laws.
