According to alternative news sites but from the source of NICFA / Food Freedom and alternative news mirroring sites such as The FederalJack, Blacklisted News, and other alternative news sites across the internet the FDA raided a non-commercial Amish farm in Kinzers, PA.

On February 4th 2010 at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, at a Amish farm at Kinzers, Pennsylvania which is only a few miles from the Nickel Mines Amish massacre that happened in 2006, another attack against the Amish has begun but this time it ain’t a shooter but attacks against farming rights by agents of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA are better off to have names such as the Fat Rich and Dirty Administration, Food Robbers and Demon using Administration, and/or Food Exploiters and Drug Cartels Administration (Ding Dong best name for their dirty cartel.

The agents started invading the property of Amish farmer Dan Allgyer without permission claiming to be conducting an investigation against them. Agents Joshua Schafer and Deborah Haney, that work at the FDA office of Delaware, drove right past Allgyer’s “No Trespassing” signs and then driven up his driveway almost to his barn, where Allgyer happened to be around outside. Allgyer then approached the car but the agents got out, and then asked the agents why they were there.

They produced a document, asked Allgyer if his name was Dan Allgyer, which Allgyer to the agents, then asked him his initials and phone number, entered the information on the paper which was given to him to input the information, told Allgyer that they were there to perform an inspection and started reading the document to him, saying it gave them jurisdiction to perform an inspection and to be there on his private property.

The agents including Schafer did most of the talking and said that they had a right to be on his private property because they said to him that “you produce food for human consumption.” Dan asked the agents why they would believe that and they spoke back with, “Well, you have cows.  You cannot be consuming all the milk you produce.” and further stated “If you get a milk truck in to move all this milk you sell milk to the public, therefore we have jurisdiction.”

Dan said to the agents, “This is a private farm, I do not sell anything to the public.”

As they continued to harass him as they invaded Dan Allgyer’s Farm to do the inspection, Allgyer told the agents “You can sit in your car.  I will call my lawyer.”

The agents then remained standing.

Allgyer then contacted his attorney by phone who advised him to have the FDA Agents call him. When Allgyer told the agents to contact his Attorney Schafer replied, “You are the owner and you have to speak for yourself.” They pressed for him to talk and so Schafer asked Allgyer “Are you refusing us an investigation?” but Dan Allyger replied with, “That’s not what I’m saying.”.

They kept repeating six times (Dan claimed they must have asked him six times) to Dan with the same words of, “Are you refusing an investigation?”

Allgyer was saying to the agents to, “Call this guy” which means Dan’s Attorney. One of the agents was still accusing him of refusing an investigation and said to Dan, “Even if you do not say so, you are still refusing an investigation.” and after that eventually agent Schafer said, “If you refuse an investigation will you answer some questions?” but Allgyer replied, “I’d rather not.”

When the agents continued to keep pushing him Dan decided to say, “Is that a question?” but they replied with a Yes. Then Dan Allgyer replied with, “What did I say about questions?’, the agents reply with, “Well we’re going to write this up as a refusal to have an investigation and give it to our higher officials.” which may lead to fines, criminal prosecutions, and a court trial. After that Dan was scared and felt that they were threatening him after those words.

After that they got in their cars, drove out out his driveway, and parked on his neighbors property but continued to watch Dan Allgyer, and so at that moment they surveyed him from his neighbors property.

Ivan who has been a visitor on the Amish Farm but has nothing to do with Dans situation decided to left in his truck soon after the commotion, but the FDA agents decided to follow him in their car, even when he stopped to use the facilities of a small convenience store. After forty to fifty miles Mr. Ivan decided to dial 911 to tell the police that he was being followed. The state police arrived in two police cruisers, pulled over Ivan, and the agents as well.

The state police told Ivan that the agents explained  they work with the FDA and that they have the right to follow him because they conducted an investigation on the farm just simply because he was there when the cars shown up. The FDA AGents thought he had purchased or had the product that was being inspected and they wanted samples of the product they thought he has.

The agents then harassed Ivan by forcing him to open his truck, revealing it was empty, so the Agents took pictures of the inside of his empty truck, gave Ivan a document stating they had the right to inspect and take pictures of his vehicle. He got agitated and told the agents that he thinks the FDA Agents harassed him but the state trooper replied that the FDA Agents has a legal right to follow him and even pull his car over but since they are in a unmarked car Ivan would not have had to pull over.

As back with Dan, the FDA Agents then asked Ivan some information which they produced on the document, then handed it to Ivan. Ivan wondered so he asked the agents, “Why are you writing up a paper on me when you have no cause?” which is correct because if Ivan was just a visitor then he is not apart of the Amish establishment or shouldn’t have to be accused of a FDA type of crime just because he may have had some food from their land unless he has worked there but even then what evidence did they have against Ivan? I’m sure more information will be added as it’s found. They claims he had a loaf of bread from the Amish farm and the FDA wanted samples of the bread  and so the3 USWGO Founder says this while very angry after reading about this event “F*** The Police F*** the FDA F*** The government this makes me so ANGRYYYYY thats his bread the F***en police better stay off his bread”.

The agent replied that he saw them at the farm but Ivan replied with. “That doesn’t make any difference, I didn’t know who you were.”, then Ivan continued and pointed out that he was at the farm but did not hear what they were saying. He was twenty feet or more away from where they were and was not involved with the conversation between the agents and the Dan Allgyer.

The police said they would record the agents that had been following him in case this investigation could be false. A spokewoman for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that the FDA had no comment at this time because of the fact that the investigation is ongoing, also Dan Allgyer will meat with his areas county sheriff in the future to

Ivan said the police told him they would record that the agents had been following him.

A spokeswoman for the FDA (reached at the phone number on the paper the FDA agents gave to Allgyer) said the FDA has no comment at this time because it is an ongoing investigation. In the near future Dan Allgyer will meet up with his counties sheriff to inform him on the incident.

Bedell apparently left behind Internet postings resentful of the government and airing suspicions about the 9/11 attacks.

PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities in Arizona say six people have been killed in a passenger bus crash south of Phoenix. Rescuers have set up a triage area in the middle of the highway and were breaking out windows of the bus to get to victims. The westbound lanes of Interstate 10 about 25 miles south of Phoenix are closed.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are rising in early trading on Wall Street after the government’s employment report showed fewer jobs were cut in February than expected. The Labor Department says employers cut 36,000 jobs last month, better than the 50,000 cuts forecast by economists, and the unemployment rate held steady at 9.7 percent.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — More passengers are sick with a stomach bug on a cruise ship that was hit by virus on its previous trip from South Carolina. A South Carolina newspaper, The Post and Courier of Charleston, says 55 of the nearly 1,900 passengers on board the Celebrity Mercury have fallen ill. The ship sailed from Charleston on Feb. 27.

CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN, Wash. (AP) — A search is under way for two skiers missing in Washington state. Searchers are following tracks in the snow into an out-of-bounds area at the Crystal Mountain resort on the east side of Mount Rainier National Park.

After 11 years of secrecy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has decided to reverse a prior decision that allowed pesticide manufacturers to conceal the inert ingredients from their product labels. Since many of these ingredients are toxic, the agency now believes that consumers should know what ingredients are hiding in pesticide products.

As opposed to active ingredients, inert ingredients in pesticides do not kill or control pests. A typical pesticide product is composed of over 99 percent inerts while the remaining 1 percent or less are the actual active ingredients.

Prior to the EPA’s announcement, manufacturers were not required to disclose any of the inert ingredients contained in their products, even though federal law classifies many of them as hazardous. Some of these include formaldehyde, bisphenol A (BPA), toluene, sulfuric acid, styrene, and benzene, all of which are known carcinogens that are implicated in causing everything from breathing problems to sexual dysfunction.

Petitions filed by ten state attorneys general and an environmental group in 2001 to require inert ingredient labeling were denied by the EPA. A federal appeal in 2004 was also struck down, upholding the precedent that labeling was neither important nor necessary.

However this year the agency has had a change of heart, deciding to initiate new regulations that it says will increase transparency and encourage manufacturers to remove toxic ingredients from their products and replace them with safer, more environmentally friendly components.

Many pesticide companies are resistant to the idea because they say it will force them to reveal confidential information about their formulas and make public their trade secrets. They also allege that the EPA is practicing double speak by approving the formulas as safe for public use while at the same time expressing concern over the toxicity of inert ingredients. All inert ingredients in pesticides have always been made available to the EPA in order to be approved, a process that the industry believes releases them from responsibility.

While not all inert ingredients are toxic, many being simple plant and oil extracts and other harmless fillers, many experts and industry watchdogs believe it is necessity to reveal all ingredients, especially toxic ones, in order to maintain public health.

The EPA plans to work with the pesticide industry, consumers, and other stake holders to craft appropriate legislation. Federal law, whether constitutional or not, allows only the EPA to decide what must be included on pesticide labels, which has caused a firestorm of petitions from 15 state attorneys general providing suggestions for the new legislation.

Not too long ago ever since at around the Austin Plane Crash I started hearing a noise of a helicopter and when I looked outside it was a marine military helicopter flying around my area and I was shocked because usually my area is peaceful and a small little town so I was wondering why some military helicopter was flying around my area.

Theres only one explanation that it is either a military drill or they are worried about another plane attack after the Austin Suice Plane Crash Attack against a IRS Building. I still don’t understand why our military is surveying our area when I never usually seen a helicopter like that in my small town so now I am reporting that this has happened. Usually I was going to stay quiet but now I am bringing out that a military plane was going through our peaceful little town of Mayodan, North Carolina.

I didn’t get a picture like that so it was pointless writing an article but now since I took a picture of the exact same type of helicopter I can attach a picture showing what the helicopter looked like and I never really had aircrafts like that until after that Plane Crash. Makes me wonder what the military industrial complex is planning with the recent events.

I am starting to see a trend of domestic violence against the government and some of those are the ones that are starting the Austin Plane Suicide attack and the Pentagon shooting a few days ago. As much as I am fed up against the system and the fact it is poisoning and hurting it’s inhabitants with vaccines and other junk I don’t think it’s a good idea for anybody else to get violent right now. Charging into the Pentagon with a gun is the worst idea to change the system.

The government has fighter jets, missiles, machine guns, pain rays, UFO Aircrafts, and other unusual weaponry and arsenal at their disposal and I even witnessed some of the weaponry on my trip to Virginia beach. While on a whale watching boat ride I took a picture of the Coast Guard boat before it left and noticed that they have machine guns they can use against pirates and drug pushers and also snapped a picture of a military helicopter and noticed they have a lot of weaponry and yet we the people just have guns and some stockpile ammo (I know a woman that told me she stockpiles ammo) or make their own but yet the US Government has so much weaponry and I had the privilege of taking pictures of some of it for two days.

What I am talking about is they have major powerful weapons and only some people have hand guns and shotguns, some have grenade launchers like that one Veteran I heard on the news, and some stockpile on ammo and thats it. So if Fed Up Glenn Beck fans and Americans got violent against the federal government it will only end up in massive deaths (aka a massacre) in the millions and bringing forth martial law which would end the Constitution forever as we know it.

Please remain peaceful those that are really fed up because if we decide to just run around with guns to attack the IRS Buildings or Pentagon instead of taking back our country peacefully it will only end up in massive deaths and the end of country as we know it. If we let them frame truthers, activists, and skeptics as terrorists then we will all be tortured and treated as terrorists.

I know people from alternative media sites, Alex Jones fans, and awaken people are afraid that the Pentagon attack will spread propaganda to make us all look bad and so anyone who may get violent because they are fed up has got to show the example that we are not a terrorist and we were never terrorists that we are patriots and we care about our country.

We don’t want our country to become communism, fascism, Marxism, or any kind of federal establishment that enslaves and hurts it’s inhabitants. We want to be free, have the right to not be poisoned, and a right to live our lives the way we want want to and not the way the federal government wants us to.

I hope nobody takes my article the wrong way or thinks I’m some kind of disinfo troll adding fuel to the fire. The whole point of this article is that those that advocate violence against the government are only hurting us all and making us more controlled and suspected and that is the last thing any sane American and infowarriors would want. We don’t want agents treating us all like were some kind of beasts that need to be tortured, slashed, and murdered. The nazis put the Jews through the same thing where nobody cared about the jews and just let them all die a painful torturous death and now the same things are going on where the new nazis want to torture all truthers and patriots to death.

The Illuminati (aka Illuminazi) and other secretive organizations are pulling all the strings and they are on purposely stressing, attacking, and harassing Americans till they want to kill Uncle Sam because it would give them more of an excuse to control us, treat us like little children, bring in the Concentration Camps and the New World Order.

So all you peaceful people out there including Alex Jones, me, and others I am proud of you all and myself for remaining peaceful and not going postal. Lets keep it that way and mirror this article to bring fourth an example that we are peaceful people and the only time we should fight back in a war is if the soldiers just attack us and we did nothing to them. The only time we should ever get violent is if our families safety is threatened by our military and are being physically attacked by the government because that hurts our bodies and in those conditions I believe war is necessary.

I know for a while evil groups of people have taken our government hostage and now has control of the Congress, control of the military, control of several states and corporations but any concerned American that starts going violent like some Samurai soldier will be looked at as not just terrorism but an act of war and under those allegations our Declaration of Independence, our Bill of Rights, and our Constitution is finished forever and then those Concentration Camps run by the FEMA Organization will start running and enslaving the masses and what the government believes is the enemy.

I am asking all peaceful 9/11 truthers, activists, and all concerned Americans to start writting blog entries, news opinion articles, and make YouTube Videos telling the world that your concerned about whats going on in your government but you are a peaceful fellow and will only fight to defend yourself or if your family was violently attacked by your government for a ill reason or no good reason because self defense is a basic human right and that as long as your a peaceful American nobody should bother you unless your breaking a law or city code.

This Pentagon attacker is NOT a truther and definitely should not be put in the same category as Patriots because this makes good concerned people look bad and would ruin everything our Constitution stood for for hundreds of years.

I ask and beg all Americans to keep it peaceful for now and if the government does strikes and attacks against innocent Americans then all hell then fight for your lives and freedom like during the times of Great Britain but if the government is just taking away rights then we fight for them peacefully as the Declaration of Independence states we shouldn’t overthrow a government over petty and small issues and that only when a government becomes destructive of any ends then it is our right and duty to bring down the government peacefully as we can but when all peaceful options are gone and theres no other choice but to accept being victimized then stand up and fight.

Our government hasen’t publicly declared war on us so please some Americans don’t do this don’t go out with your private planes and guns and use them to attack the system because it won’t help us at all and will only hurt our truth movements and causes.

Please America remain peaceful unless theres a very good reason we should use war like violence and the only good reasons are innocent people being thrown in Concentration Camps, the government creates political prisoners, the government completely takes away your rights to say no and uses violent force against you for standing up peacefully, and if the government victimizes you (torture, death, use of unnecessary force) for your political beliefs then all hell just start a civil war but right now there is no good reason why we need to fight so KEEP IT PEACEFUL!!! AND NEVER ADVOCATE VIOLENCE!!! Because all it will do is poison the truth movement.

FLASHBACK: Metro to host emergency response exercise with active shooter scenario

I’m no coincidence theorist as most official government officials seem to be when anything happens, especially when it concerns government exercises and war games that seem to turn “LIVE” right when the government needs them to happen. That is to say, to implement a plan that is on the books and ready to go, such as what we now truly know about the anomalies surrounding the events of 9/11, the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the Lavon Affair, the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty, Operation Northwoods, NATO stay-behind armies known as Operation Gladio, the Fruit of the Boom Bomber, the London 7/7 bombings, the attack on Afghanistan, the bombing of the USS Maine, Pearl Harbor, WACO, World Trade Center ‘93 bombings, Oklahoma City, and on and on down the rabbit hole we go, there are so many more I haven’t mentioned yet. I’m not saying that this is the case regarding the Pentagon Metro shooter, but it does come at a convenient time and fit the model of a false flag operation. It is the Hegelian Dialectic in action – Problem, Reaction, Solution with the Gubment being the beneficiaries of this type of model – Cui Bono?: Who Benefits?. The Gubment creates the problem, the public knee jerks in their reaction and the feds have a convenient off-the-shelf plan ready to go to save the day.


This has the earmarks of a three-fer-one on top of a Double Coupon Tuesday at your local Orwellian Market. Sure, this shooting took place a week or so after the same scenario had been played out and trained for by local police and military types, so not all events have to go live at the same time as the training – but they do happen during or immediately near the actual event.


There has been talk here within the District of Criminals lately in local news of federalizing the police/security in the DC Metro under the ever vigilant Dept of Homeland Insecurity and their bastard short bus stepchild, the TSA (Thousands Standing Around). Should this take place, the benefit to the District and its coffers would be the Metro employees losing their union and the rights that having one affords them in protection from the bureaucratic bean counters. Going DHS would be the way to go since that is where all of the federal funds are going in this recession/depression as opposed to maintaining our infrastructure and providing for the people. We are moving into a Stasi Police State in this engineered economic crash, pushing desperate people into the military with an economic draft, TV ads of universities offering careers in DHS counter terrorism or corrections/policing and the Feds asking your local UPS guy or cable installer to be snitches for possible terrorist activities, since they are so well trained in the area, and then to report to the FBI. We’ve untold thousands of people employed by outsourced intelligence corporations created by former heads of our intelligence community, spying on US citizens and creating armies of paid bloggers to attack anyone who questions the motives of OUR government.


So we get our three-fer: The Metro security goes federal and so does the financial windfall, the Metro employees lose their Union protections and possibly their pensions taking the perceived financial burden off the shoulders of the city and at the same time they throw 9/11 Truthers under the bus.


But I’m just a coincidence theorist. Pay no attention to the fact that they were playing war games in the Metro here pretending to shoot people to see what the response would be to Metro incidents.


Update: As a forgotten aside, I would be remiss not to mention that at the same time just across the Potomac here from the Pentagram, the US Supreme Court was deciding on a case concerning a 2008 decision that struck down the DC law that banned all guns within the District of Criminals, making this algorithmic mind bender of high math even tougher, advancing my PhD theoretical equation now of a three-fer with a plus-one. Like I said, I’m just one of those crazy coincidence theorists…

Birther, truther, drug war critic, tea partier, libertarian, liberal – any and all dissent is “violent extremism”

If someone tripled the fire insurance on their house and then it was burned to the ground days later, would you be suspicious? A similar comparison can be made to last night’s shooting at the Pentagon, which was preceded by weeks of hype from both the establishment left and right about the inevitability of 9/11 truthers going postal.

The media’s almost instantaneous explanation for the motive behind the shooting that injured two police officers was assailant John Patrick Bedell’s sense of injustice surrounding 9/11 truth.

Quite how Bedell planned to take on the hub of the military-industrial complex on his own with a couple of guns defies logic and renders the claim that Bedell was acting on his political angst ludicrous.

But the most disturbing aspect surrounding yesterday’s incident is the fact that people like Glenn Beck on the establishment right and establishment liberal media outlets like CNN and MSNBC on the left have been aggressively promoting for months the notion that people who express dissent against the government are intent on killing people.

It’s no coincidence that the last two targets of low-level domestic terrorism were the IRS and the Pentagon, and in both cases the propaganda victory enjoyed in the aftermath by the same establishment registered a far greater impact than the actual attacks.

The Pentagon shooting has been seized upon as a way to demonize 9/11 truthers, Tea Party members, drug war opponents, libertarians, and just about anyone with a political opinion.

The Media Elites website feverishly set about using Bedell’s actions as a stick with which to smear anyone and everyone from supporters of former Democratic candidate Mike Gravel, to “teabaggers,” to marijuana decriminalization advocates, to adherents of the economic philosophy of Ludwig von Mises, to people who read books critical of the Bush administration.

Basically, any idea or opinion Bedell ever had was suddenly used as grist for political demonization of a whole smattering of groups seen as a thorn in the side of the establishment. This pathetic feeding frenzy is now routine in a climate where the public is brainwashed that any dissent against the government is indicative of “dangerous extremism” and should be frowned upon.

This also has the effect of circling the wagons and inculcating within police the idea that protesters and 9/11 truthers represent a physical threat.

Could the shooting be yet another example of false flag terrorism or did Bedell just go nuts? What we do know for sure is that the only other two occasions on which 9/11 truthers were accused of being violent or planning terrorism were both completely fraudulent set-ups that were artificially contrived in an effort to demonize people who ask questions about 9/11.

The first occurred when 9/11 truth activist Gary Talis was accused of assaulting a disabled girl in a wheelchair outside a Laura Bush speaking event. Talis was later acquitted by a New York jury despite New York police officers and one Secret Service agent lying in claiming Talis had assaulted the girl when in fact he was the one being assaulted by the girl’s father.

The second incident involved We Are Change New York, who were protesting Larry Silverstein when one of Silverstein’s security guards called in a hoax bomb threat to the police, claiming that Luke Rudkowski was carrying an explosive device in his backpack.

Since on both these occasions, 9/11 truthers were the victims of an orchestrated set-up to portray them as violent criminals or terrorists, how can we be confident that we have been told the whole story about the Pentagon incident?

The fact that Glenn Beck, Chris Matthews and others are constantly hyping the inevitability of anti-government individuals going postal and killing people undoubtedly makes already unstable individuals more likely to commit such acts.

Whether Bedell was influenced by his political grievances, media talking points, or he just snapped is largely inconsequential to the fact that this will be exploited to the full by shameful hacks who are eager to silence their opposition by demonizing anyone who so much as utters a word against the government as a violent extremist and in doing so, preparing the groundwork for measures to censor free speech and the Internet.

It’s not good enough for them to have raped Americans for trillions of dollars, destroyed the economy, turned the police against us, and eviscerated our standard of living, they now want to blackball anyone who so much as raises a whimper in protest as an extremist and a potential terrorist.

The world is one major cyber event away from total restriction of the net

The latest attack on the free internet comes in the shape of suggestions by former director of national intelligence under George W. Bush, Mike McConnell, who writes in an op-ed that the web should be “re-engineered” in order that it can be completely controlled and managed by U.S. intelligence.

Last week McConnell testified to Congress that the country was in the midst of a cyberwar that it was losing. He believes that a coming cyberattack will cause more economic damage to the U.S. than the 9/11 attacks.

With this in mind mind McConnell penned a piece carried by the Washington Post, in which he urged that financial transactions, power grids, air and ground transportation, telecommunications, and water-filtration systems were all under imminent threat from cyber terrorist attacks.

McConnell called for a return to a Cold War mentality of deterrence, writing that the U.S. should make it clear that any cyber attack would be met with immediate and unequivocal retaliation.

“We need to develop an early-warning system to monitor cyberspace, identify intrusions and locate the source of attacks with a trail of evidence that can support diplomatic, military and legal options — and we must be able to do this in milliseconds.” he wrote.

“More specifically, we need to re-engineer the internet to make attribution, geolocation, intelligence analysis and impact assessment — who did it, from where, why and what was the result — more manageable,” McConnell added.

McConnell’s comments prompted Wired to hit back, labeling him “the biggest threat to the open internet”, and commenting that cyberwar hype is being used as a pretext to destroy the freedom of the web:

“He’s talking about changing the internet to make everything anyone does on the net traceable and geo-located,” Ryan Singel writes, “so the National Security Agency can pinpoint users and their computers for retaliation if the U.S. government doesn’t like what’s written in an e-mail, what search terms were used, what movies were downloaded.”

As Singel points out, McConnell now works for defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton, a subsidiary of the Carlyle Group – the global private equity investment firm that enjoyed business links with the Bin Laden family prior to 9/11.

Booz Allen Hamilton now has huge billion dollar contracts with the NSA concerning cybersecurity. It is hardly surprising that McConnell has long pushed for the NSA to become the lead agency authorized to monitor and guard all government and private networks.

“Make no mistake, the military industrial complex now has its eye on the internet.” Singel warns. “Never shy of extending its power, the military industrial complex wants to turn the internet into yet another venue for an arms race. And it’s waging a psychological warfare campaign on the American people to make that so.”

Singel even suggests that a false flag cyber attack could be just around the corner, in order to provide the perfect pretext for a complete take over of the net:

“Now the question is: Which of these events can be turned into a Gulf of Tonkin-like fakery that can create enough fear to let the military and the government turn the open internet into a controlled, surveillance-friendly net.” he writes.

Such musings echo warnings from experts such as Lawrence Lessig, a respected Law Professor from Stanford University, who stated in August 2008 that “There’s going to be an i-9/11 event” which will act as a catalyst for a radical reworking of the law pertaining to the internet.

Lessig noted that former government Counter Terrorism Czar Richard Clarke had told him personally that there was already in existence a cyber equivalent of the Patriot Act, an “i-Patriot Act” if you will, and that the Justice Department is waiting for a cyber terrorism event in order to implement its provisions.

The U.S. military also has some $30 Billion invested in it’s own mastering the internet projects.

In 2009 the Cybersecurity Act was introduced, proposing to allow the federal government to tap into any digital aspect of every citizen’s information without a warrant. Banking, business and medical records would be wide open to inspection, as well as personal instant message and e mail communications.

Fast forward to the present, and the bill looming in the Senate legislates for handing the president emergency powers over the internet in the event of a cyber attack or other national emergency.

Earlier this week, the Obama administration lifted the veil on a highly-secretive set of policies it says are designed to defend the U.S. from cyber attacks. The core program revolves around a “Cyber Shield” that would allow the Department of Homeland Security to dig into all internet communications.

DHS’s top cybersecurity official has revealed to CNET that the department may eventually extend its Einstein technology, originally created for federal networks, to non-government infrastructure. It has emerged that the NSA is intimately involved with the program.

All of these moves in the U.S. are being mirrored in the Australia, the U.K. and the rest of Europe.

Meanwhile, if you’re wondering where the funding for such programs is going to come from, Microsoft executive Scott Charney has a suggestion for you:

“You could say it’s a public safety issue and do it with general taxation,” Charney noted at security conference in San Francisco earlier this week. That’s right, a tax on the internet to go with total restriction and NSA monitoring.

If we do not act now to educate more people about the ongoing attack on the free and open internet, and how we can act to protect it by blocking restrictive legislation and programs, we may soon find ourselves referring to a “post i-9/11 society”.

Politicians should be careful about dragging Holocaust references into everyday arguments. Even Churchill – who arguably had more right to make such references than the rest of us – suffered when he tried to draw a parallel between socialism and the Gestapo during the 1945 election campaign. Yet Euro-integrationists make the link so habitually and so matter-of-factly that they no longer realise what they’re doing.

During the last session of the European Parliament, both the Liberal and Socialist leaders said that Euro-sceptic MEPs made them think of the Nazis (see here). And who can forget the words of Margot Wallström, then Sweden’s European Commissioner, at the anniversary of the liberation of the Theresienstandt concentration camp: “There are those today who want to scrap the supra-national idea. They want the EU to go back to the old purely intergovernmental way of doing things. I say those people should come to Terezin and see where that old road leads.”

I am uncomfortable drawing contemporary political lessons from the Nazi genocide: I still can’t get this photograph out of my mind. But, if we must, let us consider the Wallström-Verhofstadt theory that nationalism causes genocide. Something that struck me, both at Yad Vashem and when reading Robert Wistricht’s brilliant factual chronicle, Hitler and the Holocaust, is that national sovereignty was often the only defence against the murderers. Almost all European states, including fascist and Quisling regimes, recognised their responsibility to their own passport-holders. The Jews who were most at risk of deportation were those who had arrived as refugees. The Nazis realised this which is why one of their first acts, on occupying a country, was usually to declare all Jews stateless.

Nation-states have, over the years, been a pretty sturdy defence against totalitarian ideologies, whether fascism, Soviet Communism or jihadi fundamentalism. Rooted as it is in organic loyalties, the nation is a naturally democratic unit. This is not to say that all nation-states are liberal democracies; simply that ideologies which claim to be bigger than national allegiances can be dangerous. They can even lead, as Mr Verhofstadt really ought to know, to mass murder.

Thinktank report figures highlight increasing frequency of missile deaths

One out of every three people killed by unmanned US Predator drones in Pakistan is a civilian, according to a new report that highlights the collateral damage caused by the targeting of Taliban and “Al Qaeda” operatives with missiles.

The report by Washington think tank The New America Foundation has found that 32% of the more than 1,200 people killed since 2004 were innocent bystanders rather than dangerous terrorists.

The nonpartisan public policy institute based it’s research on media accounts from sources including the New York Times, Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press, Reuters, Agence France-Presse, CNN, the BBC, in addition to reports in the leading English-language newspapers in Pakistan, as well as coverage by the largest independent Pakistani television network.

“Our study shows that the 114 reported drone strikes in northwest Pakistan, including 18 in 2010, from 2004 to the present have killed approximately between 834 and 1,216 individuals,” the report by Peter Bergen and Katherine Tiedemann states.

“…around 549 to 849 were described as militants in reliable press accounts, about two-thirds of the total on average. Thus, the true civilian fatality rate since 2004 according to our analysis is approximately 32 percent.” the study concludes.

Of course, given that these figures are based on public media reports of drone attacks only, the actual figures of civilian deaths are likely to be much higher.

Indeed, reports last year drawn up by Pakistani authorities indicated that close to 700 civilians had already perished, with just 14 wanted Al Qaeda leaders killed in the attacks.

The frequency of unmanned drone attacks has increased, as expected, under the Obama administration, with 53 reported attacks last year; more than were carried out during the entirety of George W. Bush’s two four year terms in office.

This is one campaign promise Obama has kept, as he admitted that he would seek to expand the U.S. led war on terror into Pakistan should he be elected.

In January, Nobel Peace Prize winner Obama requested a record defense budget, the bulk of which will be used to acquire more pilotless Predator and Reaper drones.

Reports last December revealed that drone strikes are set to be expanded again, this time into Pakistan’s Baluchistan province for the first time, and into the country’s cities.

The U.S. still officially refuses to acknowledge the existence of any unmanned drone program inside Pakistan.

The reason for this is simple – even if you discount the hundreds of innocent lives lost in the attacks, the strikes still amount to unlawful extra-judicial killing of militants. They also infringe the national sovereignty of Pakistan and constitute an act of war.

While Pakistani authorities have consistently voiced public opposition to cross border missile strikes, which have killed hundreds of innocent civilians, the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee has stated that the Pakistani government is actively facilitating the attacks by providing bases from which to launch the drones.

The New America Foundation report concludes that although civilian casualty figures are high, they do not believe their study will influence the U.S. military to reconsider their use.

“Despite the controversy drone strikes are likely to remain a critical tool for the United States to disrupt Al Qaeda and Taliban operations and leadership structures,” it states.
